Jewelry Care & Maintenance Guide

Keep Your Jewelry Sparkling for Years to Come

Your SwissWat jewelry is crafted to last — but like all fine jewelry, it benefits from a little care and attention. Follow these simple guidelines to keep your pieces looking as brilliant as the day they arrived.

Cleaning Your Jewelry

For Moissanite Stones

Moissanite is one of the hardest gemstones on earth and is highly resistant to scratching and dulling. To clean your moissanite:

  • Mix a few drops of mild dish soap with warm water.
  • Soak the piece for 5–10 minutes.
  • Gently scrub with a soft-bristle toothbrush, paying attention to the setting and underside of the stone.
  • Rinse thoroughly with clean water.
  • Pat dry with a soft, lint-free cloth.

Avoid using harsh chemicals, bleach, or abrasive cleaners, as these can damage the metal plating.

For S925 Silver & Plated Pieces

Our jewelry is made from S925 sterling silver with platinum or gold plating. To maintain the finish:

  • Clean gently with a soft, damp cloth after wearing.
  • Avoid exposing your jewelry to perfume, hairspray, lotions, or cleaning products before they dry.
  • Remove jewelry before swimming, showering, or exercising.
  • Use a silver polishing cloth occasionally to restore shine to unplated areas.

Storing Your Jewelry

  • Store each piece separately to prevent scratching — the gift box your jewelry arrived in is perfect for this.
  • Keep jewelry in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and humidity.
  • Avoid storing silver jewelry in the open air for extended periods, as this can cause tarnishing.
  • Use anti-tarnish strips or pouches for long-term storage.

Wearing Your Jewelry

  • Put jewelry on last — after applying makeup, perfume, and hairspray.
  • Take jewelry off first — before washing hands, showering, or doing household chores.
  • Remove rings before working with your hands to avoid bending or scratching.
  • Avoid wearing jewelry in chlorinated pools or hot tubs, as chlorine can damage metal plating.

About Plating & Longevity

Our jewelry features platinum or gold plating over S925 silver. With proper care, the plating will maintain its beautiful finish for a long time. However, all plated jewelry will naturally wear over time with regular use. If you notice the plating beginning to fade, a professional jeweler can re-plate the piece to restore its original look.
